Modified Syllabus

"Exploring Creation with Physical Science" by Wile, 2nd Edition.

Preface to this Class:

Any and all communication with the instructor, postings and or new material will be done via this website, or email. I do not have access to a cell phone all the time.

I am teaching this class based on the caveat that we remain true to our mission for teaching.

Class Title: Exploring Creation with Physical Science for Middle Schoolers.

Note to Parents:

I will be using the following textbook for the entire class:

"Exploring Creation with Physical Science" by Wile, 2nd Edition.

I have decided NOT TO USE the textbook that was originally donated as I am NOT willing to teach from a tool that is totally based on illusory stories, contradicts true science, and whose main interest is to warp the hearts of our elementary school children to believe in the mindless hypothesis of "evolution of man" which has not foundation in true science, and is based on fantasy ideas of totally unproven "evolutionary" hype.

Thus, I will NOT BE USING the Textbook: Physical Science- CPO Science by Thomas C. Hsu, PhD.

Instead I will use :

"Exploring Creation with Physical Science" by Wile, 2nd Edition.

This is a course in Physics and Science home schoolers that teaches scientific facts.

Reasons why I am not using the donated textbook:

There are many inconsistencies innacuracies and hype throughout  the entire other textbook. (Physical Science- CPO Science by Thomas C. Hsu, PhD).

They are too many to be exposed throughout the entire school period. I am NOT willing to expose any of the children to such preposterous statements that do not convey true science.

As an instructor, I am called upon to defend the scientific, accuracy of true science, while conducting this class.

Schedule

Two classes per week. Mon and Wed. 1 and 1/2 hour each class.

Important modifier

Since I will NOW be teaching from the

"Exploring Creation with Physical Science" by Wile, 2nd Edition. textbook, the following caveat does not apply to our class.

I will produce a different syllabus based on the new textbook.

It is important for each student to keep a Student Notebook

The Importance of a Student Notebook in a Junior High Science Curriculum

Apologia.com suggests: The purpose of the Student Notebook is to guide your studenttoward becoming more structured, logical, factual, and most importantly, independent!

It is also one of the first steps toward independence is knowing what to do and when to do it.

Student’s Personal Notes: Students learn to take notes by creating graphics that relate to the pertinent facts of the course.

The instructor is trying extremely hard to inculcate in each student that our world is not a world of chaos, but rather an orderly, Godly arraigned world.

Once students begin to see that they can observe a phenomenon, and ask questions, and set up a methodical test to answer questions, science will no longer be a class but rather a means to discover their world and the truth about God in science.

“Throughout their academic school year, your students will conduct controlled experiments where they observe a problem, ask a question, formulate a testable hypothesis, and then conduct the experiment and analyze the data to see if their results support their hypothesis.

It involves quantitative data that require measurements. The lab portion of Apologia guides students through this process”.

“Additionally, students will conduct descriptive experiments to use their 5 senses to make qualitative observations and describe what they learn.

Again, our homeschool curriculum was designed with your student’s success in mind, and we guide students through this process with detailed descriptions and photographs”.

Excerpts for some of this suggestions have been taken from : http://www.apologia.com/cms/8/homeschool-high-school-physical-science

MATERIAL and subject COVERAGE

There are 16 chapters to be covered during the school year.

Due to the ease with which students feel with the subject,

I will have all 16 chapters covered by the 15th of November. Final exams will be at the end of November or sooner.

There will a test every 1 weeks, for each 2 chapterscovered in class.

Homework will be considered as quizzes.

Some quizzes will be given orally during class exercises. These will count towards your grade.

Oral Tests: There may be occasional oral tests designed to boost the student's academic grades. These tests will be entirely at the discretion of the instructor.

Experiments

Only SELECTED experiments will be done. For example we may do one experiment per month. Parents will need to have all material ready for any experiments performed.

Parents, are encouraged to take over the experiment part of the class in order to cover the material more thoroughly.

Every Monday and Wednesday there will be Exercises and problem solving during the second half of each class.

For Wednesday: At Home: READ AHEAD ½ of the remaining for each chapter from Monday to Wednesday, as assigned by instructor.

Study Guides”

It is recommended that you do each exercise on the “Study Guides” for each chapter.

I will go over any of the exercises during class if any student has any questions on them.

It is imperative that students cover these exercises. These are the basis on which
the tests will be based.

Quizzes Format

There will be 10-12 questions for every take home quiz every 2 weeks.

Students need to answer only 10 out of the 12 questions.

If extra credit is desired for the quizzes you may do so.

Quizzes will be graded in class in order to benefit the most students.

Material covered in the quizzes will be addressed in class until all questions, if any have been satisfied for every student.

TEST FORMAT

There will be one “test” every 4 weeks for every 2 chapters covered in class

All tests will be based on the previously covered and solved Quiz material already covered in class.

All tests will include 10-12 questions from the previous 2 chapters covered in class.

Students need to answer only 10 out of the 12 questions.

If extra credit is desired for the TESTS you may do so.

Tests will be graded in class in order to benefit the most students.

Material covered in the Tests will be addressed in class until all questions, if any have been satisfied for every student.

All tests will always be “Open Book Tests”.

Quarterly Tests

Quarterly Tests will be done every two months.

Quarterly tests will be based on the previous 4 chapters covered in class.

Questions for these tests will be completely new, but completely related to previous tests and quizzes taken by students during the previous 8 weeks.

There will be up to 20 questions for the quarterly tests. Each question will be based on the previously covered material and problems solved in class or in the textbook.

Quarterly tests will always be “Open Book Tests”.

Oral Tests

Oral Tests: There may be occasional oral tests designed to boot the student's academic grades. These tests will be entirely at the discretion of the instructor.

Oral tests may consist of: Anything covered during the class up to date.

Students are expected to express themselves with confidence and conviction of the knowledge of material that is being covered.

Additionally, oral tests and extra grading may include doing exercises in class for any of the covered material and for active class participation.

This syllabus is an active and live document and it may change or be modified as needed during the entire semester or school year.

Original Caveat and reason why I will NOT teach from the earlier "evolution" based textbook:

Due to the earlier textbook's false "evolutionary" teachings (Physical Science- CPO Science by Thomas C. Hsu, PhD) that weave throughout the entire pages, all students and parents need to be aware of major modifications that need to be made throughout the learning process and the contents of the textbook.

Textbook loaned to us for this class is an "evolutionist" based book. The following modifications needed to be made:

EVERY TIME the word "evolved", or "evolution" is used or represented in this textbook, instructor suggests be replaced, with the proper verb:  DESIGNED or CREATED.

Besides the assertions that the class teacher or instructor will make as regards to true origins of life, it is suggested that parents, at home, individually and or collectively equally impress upon their children the true fact of Creation, and the errancy throughout the textbook as regards to that.

Example of weekly study suggestion: We suggest studying science about 1 hour a day for 5 days.

During this time, students read an assigned portion of their textbook, stopping throughout each section to answer “On Your Own” questions to test their comprehension before moving forward.

It is suggested that students self-check their answers against the detailed answers provided at the end of each module or bring answers to class for the instructor to verify results.
